After coming to me in a dream and recorded the same morning in 2003- "Young Neil" has become THE definitive JSE song. The band recorded demos of it in 2005 (with Mike Finnerty on Drums) we attempted it again with John Pizzarelli Jr. and then recorded two more versions with Patric Valentine in Ezra's Basement and in Brokenland in early 2011 with the intention of replacing this album version with a more "live rock" sound. Unfortunately, the emotional impact of this version, seemingly could not be replicated. The version presented here was tracked in 2004 (with additional vocals added in 2007, bass and effects in 2011)
That's Mike Finnerty gleefully talking at the end deciding to play "cancer song" over "a song for hope" under the guise of "We're going to depress people!"
