Nat wrote this song so many years ago I can't pinpoint which. I know we brought it into a Stereolites rehearsal and Denny and Mike played with me on the new wave/joy division-version of "Cigarette" but then they went to make calls or grab grub or beers and Nat and I stayed in our space (on 8th avenue and 38th street) and worked on Scottish Boys which I remember sounded very Yeah Yeah Yeahs at the time.
When I moved to park slope a couple of years later, the song re-emerged as a folky whimsical tale, played acoustically, not unlike Faerie Pet from the Trouble with Neith or Viking Folklore (which I believe was finally released as a Pretentious Pretenses song) but the micro-cassette tape we recorded it on is presumably lost. One day I am going to go nuts playing every tape I've saved over the years looking for diamonds in the rough.
