that unexplainable combination of awe beauty reverence and shock. curiousity and quiet, feeling like the apex predetor you are KNOWING yer doing something wrong. spying on prey. adjusting yer breath. being cognizant of yer own heart rate etc...

One of my favorites , and along with Scatterbug, the two sore thumbs.
No matter where they are sequenced, something about their production *with a VERY out of tune acoustic guitar leading the way AND/or their thematic storytelling elements...
but I don't want to knock my own work here. I AM PROUD.
This song was written as a duo/ couple : along with Better Luck Next Time. BLNT was actually intended to be a scarfs./BARFS song, with Gersbeck on Drums, we recorded that one up in Woodstock with the other 30+ scarfs/Barfs song that weekend, but something about the 90's production on it reminded me of that Republica song "Ready to Go" and a recent Green Day track which reminded me of My Bloody Valentine through the lens of Modern Rock Radio.
So obviously, it was too complex, too GOOD. To be a stupid scarfs song. I asked Chris if I could "have it" Of course, teasing him with my enticing delusions of grandeur about "points" and "publishing" and "credit" for "royalties due" when we (The JSE) Finally MAKE it.
It's been said if anyone sticks with their art, their craft, every day, and has little luck networking / arriving at an upper echelon / the next rung, etc... that after 10 years, it's bound to break. In any field or study or focus... well, the JSE began in 02. it's been 22 years. WHERE are my ...
well, I really shouldn't complain, with nary a bad review and nothing but glowing accolades and "why arent you famous?" (being the comment we've most heard) I really SHOULDn't complain.
lyrics
Lakehouse
are you bored
are you depressed
are you such a
fucking mess
just a roly poly with fascinating features
still i can't stop staring at your wrists
you can run
you can hide
time will waste you in the end
reindeer play reindeer games
so you sought some sad aristocrats to beseech them
social climbing
is a skill you need
tell all your friends about it
at the house by the lake
every time you come home
you can see why
i'm alone
you can run
you can hide
coz time will waste you - take your life
reindeer play reindeer games
still you know i'm not the only one to blame
believe in me
please believe in yourself
i can't take everyone's word
you are not leaving here alive
(i wanna sleep in the lake tonight)
please believe in yourself
please get a fucking clue
(it's in my head, i want to sleep, i just want to dream)
get a fucking clue
(i don't like what's in my head- scared of the dark...)
get a fucking clue
get a fucking clue
you can run
you can hide
time will waste you - end your life
reindeer play reindeer games
I know you're not the only one left to blame
blame.
